Interiors built for adventure

The All-space Adventure is meant for just that, adventure.. Without the third row of seats, the Adventure boasts 760 litres of boot space going up to 1920 with the second row folded. The flat-load space makes it perfect for camping and mountain biking. There are plenty of well-thought-out storage spaces in the cabin too, with a cubby up in the dash, hidey-holes in the roof, door bins, a covered cubby under the armrest, cup holders and sliding trays under the front seats.

The attention to detail is evident with felt lining all the spaces to prevent things from rattling. The three-stage heating  will be warmly welcomed on cold mornings. As for tech, a digital instrument cluster, gesture control, voice control, digital radio, along with an 8.0-inch centre touch-screen display makes sure you don;t miss out on any gagdets. Additionally, the cabin is equipped with three USB-C connections and three 12-volt outlets, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

What about the drive?

The Tiguan’s 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine, produces 162kW and 350Nm. Coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, it powers VW’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. Even with the Adventure’s extra weight, you’ll still make  0 to 100 in 6.8 seconds. It effortlessly tackles anything on the highway, never feeling underpowered or overstressed. The all-wheel-drive system also provides good grip driving through loose gravel and muddy surfaces.

The steering is surprisingly good for the size of the car. It is very good at both slow and fast speeds, inspiring confidence. The ride is excellent, tackling anything that comes up on city roads and streets or rural backroads with comfort. The Adventure is surprisingly agile in handling the more dynamic and adventurous routes. The Adventure’s soft off-roading credentials also make light of unsealed roads and corrugations. The braked towing capacity is 2500 kg with a 200 kg tow ball weight.

Take a look at the safety

The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace range comes with a Five-Star ANCAP rating. ANCAP scored it 96% for adult occupants, 80% for child occupants, and 68% for pedestrian and safety assist systems. It also scored perfect 8 out of 8 scores for both side impact and pole crash tests. It comes with seven airbags for both rows of occupants.

Lane-keep assistance, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic warning are all standard. Autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian recognition is also available, along with front and rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, and driver fatigue detection.

So, how good is it?

The Adventure is perfect for anyone that wants to tow, adventure off the beaten track, or just wants a comfortable ride with plenty of space.. This Tiguan is one of the best soft off-road vehicles in Australia, thanks to the combination of an amazing engine and up to date technology. Having all that power, with great fuel economy in todays world is hard to beat.
