GMSV Comes to Australia

November 27, 2020

The grapevine is true. The whispers are confirmed.

General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) launches officially in Australia.

GMSV opens for business with a network of over 50 dealers in Australia. An abundance of new GMSV models is slated to join the Silverado and Corvette models which are already in the stable.

“We have launched with over fifty GMSV dealers and look forward to adding more,” says GMSV director Joanne Stogiannis in an official press release.

GMSV has also launched an interactive find-a-dealer search page on its website home page. Eastern seaboard is red hot with 9 dealers in Melbourne, 7 in Sydney, 4 in Brisbane and 2 in Canberra – a total of 22 new GMSV dealers across these cities.

The find-a-dealer search also came up with 1 in Tasmania, 2 in Adelaide, 1 in Darwin and 3 in Perth. The home page also confirms 6 dealerships in New Zealand.

However, it’s still unclear if the GMSV dealers in Australia will service the Holden cars still under warranty. Gerald Slaven will continue to service both Holden and HSV whilst carrying the new GMSV brand.

For the Australia launch, GMSV handpicks the most iconic GM vehicles for customers who are looking to own something truly special.

The GMSV Director also added that there’s significant opportunity in Australia for the iconic North American vehicles to compete in niche segments.

Silverado 1500 has been performing well; the large Ute market is booming with RAM 1500 sales. This presents more opportunities for further models, and Cadillac is going to be a robust offer in the flagship performance sedan segment in Australia.

GMSV dealers are also excited about GMC Hummer EV. The vision of an all-electric future has been kicked off by the Hummer EV and is poised to drive an entire GM line-up for electric vehicles.

However, the focus initially will be to bring the Chevrolet Silverado and the Chevrolet Corvette successfully into the market. GM plans to continue identifying opportunities in Australia to add new GMSV vehicles in niche segments.

General Motors has been engineering vehicles that are recognised and awarded for their quality, reliability and dependability. Pushing the limits of transportation and technology for over a hundred years, GMSV takes safety and innovation seriously.
